Retired
My last day at Willamette Leadership academy was June 14, 2024, and yes, I did get a little verklempt, but I survived. I will miss teaching and the great professionals I had the pleasure of working with in Arizona and Oregon. And of course, I will miss the students even though there were many rough roads we traversed together, I hope I have prepared you somewhat for what lies ahead. In the meantime, I have time to actually write some of the stories have lived in my head, but never quite found their way to paper. I have a treasure trove of material to continue writing stories. I have included some new stuff on my blog for you to enjoy. All of these stories were previously accepted by Reedsy. I have also included Chapter Four of Billy and Me. In my recent retirement, I have not quite completed Chapter Three, because I want to get ducks in a line and if you know ducks, this can be quite a challenge. I hope you enjoy what I put in this edition of my blog.
- "Stopwatch: Coach Brauer and Coach Stafford are coaching the Pleasant Hill track and field team when they discover a stopwatch that can stop time. Armed with this mystical device, they plan to make their struggling team into all-conference champions, but when manipulating the fourth dimension something goes wrong, very wrong.
- "Marshall Pat Garrett come to Call" Taken from the pages of history, this is a case where the writer's imagination conjures up a scene between Marshall Pat Garrett and the surviving members of the Regulators the day after Marshall Garrett fired into a dark bedroom and supposedly killed Bill the Kid. This is a scenario where Billy the Kid is not killed as history would have us believe. What it...?
- "Recipe for Murder": Nolan Berlansky is envious of Evan Borche and is willing to murder Evan for the chance to earn his reputation as the top chef in New York City under 30 years old. He does not have much time to concoct a plot to murder this young talented chef. Why don't you find out if Nolan's plot will hold water.
- Summer Special Olympics Games, 1990: Believe it or not this story is almost totally true except the names and some of the things that happened otherwise this is nonfiction. Even though there is some creativity involved, I really did go to UCLA for a weekend to have the volleyball team participate in the games. I was the assistant coach in case you wanted to know.
